The current Honda Insight Hybrid, Honda Civic Hybrid, and Honda CR-Z Hybrid models use the existing Integrated Motor Assist System mostly to support the gasoline engine. However, recent news from Honda states that the company is planning to launch its own plug-in hybrid system in 2012. As of now, we don't know whether the all-new PHEV platform will come in the form of an existing model or an entirely new hybrid-only model.
